“Termokos” was founded in 1970 as a district heating company.

In 1974, “Termokos” became part of the Public Housing Enterprise of Pristina.

In 1978, “Termokos” was separated from the Public Housing Enterprise (PHE) and began operating as an independent heating company, but under the supervision of the Municipality of Pristina.

Prior to November 2001, the Department of Public Services of UNMIK was in charge of overseeing “Termokos”.

Later, the Kosovo Trust Agency (KTA) was established within the reserved authorization of UNMIK, and “Termokos”operated under its Department for Monitoring of Public Enterprises.

Since 2006, “Termokos” has been operating as a public enterprise called POE “Termokos” JSC.

Since June 2008, the Enterprise has been under the supervision of the Municipality of Pristina.

Mission

The mission of POE "Termokos" is to: • Offer and provide high-quality heating for all its consumers throughout the heating season; • Deliver qualitative services by implementing technical and technological advancements in the development of the generation, distribution, and supply system; • Ensure transparency and non-discrimination in providing services to the consumers.

Vision

The vision of POE "Termokos" JSC is to: -Extend and expand the network to as many citizens of Prishtina as possible; -Create opportunities for the use of clean solar energy for the generation of thermal energy; -Provide domestic water services; -Provide cooling service; -Increase revenues and collection rates to enable investment in the enterprise's capital projects; -Modernize the provision of services to consumers and the incorporate the latest technological advancements in the enterprise’s operation.

Profile of the Enterprise

Established in 1970 as a district heating company, “Termokos” became part of the Public Housing Enterprise of Pristina in 1974. Later, the Kosovo Trust Agency (KTA) was established within the reserved authorization of UNMIK, and “Termokos” operated under its Department for Monitoring of Public Enterprises. Since 2006, “Termokos” has operated as a public enterprise called POE “Termokos” JSC. Since June 2008, it has been under the supervision of the Municipality of Pristina. “Termokos” is a local heat supplier in Pristina. The heating season usually runs from October 15th through April 15th of the following year. “Termokos” is responsible for the primary part of the heating system, whereas the secondary part (circulating pumps, verticals in buildings, and radiators in apartments) is the responsibility of the consumers, as not yet determined by the Law on Central Heating.

It repairs and maintains the primary network, as well as carries out invoicing and collection of heating bills in each apartment.

Installed supply capacity:

Two heavy oil boilers with a capacity of 58 MW each, totaling 116 MW.

Additionally, as of 2014, through the co-generation system, there are 140 MW available.

Two diesel boilers for the hospital’s heating supply (reserve of the DH system for emergency supply) with a capacity of 7 MW each, totaling 14 MW.

Rates:

Residential consumers: €0.76/m² + VAT (invoicing six months a year).

Business and institutional consumers: €0.95/m² + VAT (invoicing six months a year).

“Termokos” serves as a local supplier of district heating in Prishtina. The heating season runs from October 15 through April 15 of the following year. “Termokos” is responsible for the operation and maintenance of boilers and the primary network up to the heat exchangers in substations. “Termokos” is also responsible for distributing hot water with sufficient parameters to the substation heat exchangers.

“Termokos” is responsible for the primary part of the heating system, whereas the secondary part (circulating pumps, verticals in buildings, and radiators in apartments) is the responsibility of the consumers, which is not yet determined by the Law on Central Heating.

It repairs and maintains the primary network, as well as carries out invoicing and collection of heating bills in each apartment.

“Termokos” currently provides only space heating services, while domestic water is not provided by the DH system. The consumer heating installations are not yet prepared to allow domestic water services. For this purpose, individual electric heaters are mostly used.

Provision of secondary network and third-party services:

  • Upon written request from consumers and based on the price list determined by ERO, intervention to all secondary network equipment.
  • Providing cleaning services for boilers and heat exchangers.
  • Providing repair services for heating equipment (boilers, pumps).
