MEETING WITH THE RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY THE CONSTRUCTION AND EXPANSION OF THE HEATING NETWORK

Solar4Kosovo II / Solar District Heating Kosovo

The district heating enterprise, POE “Termokos” J.S.C, Prishtina, plans to invest in an environmentally friendly project intended to produce an additional 65 GWh of thermal energy, which will increase Prishtina’s existing heating network capacity. Through this investment, the heating network can be expanded, connecting new customers, while all existing customers will benefit from a more economical and reliable heating supply.

The investment includes the construction of a Solar Thermal Facility on an underdeveloped plot in Shkabaj village (Obiliq municipality) covering approximately 25 ha. The solar generating capacity will be connected through underground pipes to the existing heating network in Prishtina and the existing transmission line in Obiliq.  The project will be financed through loans and grants from the German Government through KfW Bank, co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and contribution from POE “Termokos” J.S.C.

In accordance with the KfW Sustainability Guidelines (2019) and other international standards, an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) is being compiled to identify and assess the risks and environmental and social impacts of all phases of the proposed project’s implementation, including its associated facilities. As a part of the ongoing Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP), POE “Termokos” J.S.C plans to hold a public meeting with the project affected individuals and general public.

The meeting will be held at the elementary school “Dituria”, in village Shkabaj, on July 21st, 2022 at 18:00hrs as per the agenda below:
